Grafetta Nero D’ Avola 2021 (Noto, Sicily)

from $35.00

Like the entire Val di Noto, Ispica is the land of Nero d’Avola. Also defined as “Calabrese”, it is a late ripening vine which reaches maturity towards mid-October. Even international grape varieties like Syrah, have adapted well to this territory where, under the long summer sun, they completely lose their herbaceous character and instead take on a pleasant tropical sweetness.

The 2021 Nero D’avola boasts striking aromatics, perfumed fruit, and lovely overall balance, all in a mid-weight. Sweet red cherry, raspberry, red plum, red liquorice, figs, spices, sandalwood, aniseed, leather, and coffee filed chocolate. The palate is a rich array of flavours, fleshy, smooth, and elegant with a refined and persistent tannin.

Lots of rich mulberries, chocolate, coffee beans and ripe plum character. Medium body, ripe tannins, and some fresh acidity.
